Have you talked to your surgeon about what he or she is willing to sign off on? 1 week sounds a little too soon to me but everybody is different. My surgeon said two weeks minimum and that is only if my job does not require me to lift anything. I was only able to work half days the first week I went back to work. My surgery was on January 3rd and I went back to work January 22.

Everyone is different: I didn't have pain at all, really, but my energy was extremely low for the first month. I could not possibly have worked full-time then. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I did speak to my surgeon. He told me a week totally off was fine but don't do anything strenuous for the week I go back. I had 3 c-sections they all said this will be a walk in the park compared to that. He would give me more if I needed but I'm keeping my surgery to myself so I was trying not to take more than a week.

I had my surgery on 2/6 and won't be going back to work until 2/19. I'm in and out of my car a lot so I want to make sure there is no more pain.

I plan on taking two weeks off, I only work 2.5 hours a night delivering papers so I'm just sitting in my car, no heavy lifting involved so I figured two weeks would be enough time.

I took 1 week off, no issues whatsoever going back to work except for being very tired from lack of calorie intake.

I took 2 weeks off on surgeon's recommendation. No problems working a full day (desk job) when I returned but I was tired when I got home

I went back one week after. I took it easy and made sure i spent the majority of my time at my desk and i was a little tired but perfectly fine for a desk job or light work. Waitressing wouldn’t have been possible. And teaching on your feet all day would be a little challenging.

I took off for six weeks total. I have short disability insurance that pays at 100%, and they approved me for that amount of time.

You will get a million different answers to this question. My advice is to take as much time as you personal, financial, and professional situations will allow. Physically, you'll probably heal pretty quickly, but there is a lot of mental and emotional work that has to be done, and if you can devote yourself to that full time for a while, you will have a better chance of longterm success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
