dgirl1229 36 Posted February 9, 2018 Can anyone tell me how long recovery is? I took 1 week off work hoping is is enough. Nervous as hell!!!
DebbieLK 4 Posted February 9, 2018 Have you talked to your surgeon about what he or she is willing to sign off on? 1 week sounds a little too soon to me but everybody is different. My surgeon said two weeks minimum and that is only if my job does not require me to lift anything. I was only able to work half days the first week I went back to work. My surgery was on January 3rd and I went back to work January 22.
XYZXYZXYZ1955 675 Posted February 9, 2018 Everyone is different: I didn't have pain at all, really, but my energy was extremely low for the first month. I could not possibly have worked full-time then. Your mileage may vary, of course.
dgirl1229 36 Posted February 9, 2018 I did speak to my surgeon. He told me a week totally off was fine but don't do anything strenuous for the week I go back. I had 3 c-sections they all said this will be a walk in the park compared to that. He would give me more if I needed but I'm keeping my surgery to myself so I was trying not to take more than a week. Holls06 98 Posted February 9, 2018 I had my surgery on 12/29 and was back at work 1/4. I have a desk job, but i also work at a daycare and went back to both the same day.
brijo83 8 Posted February 10, 2018 I had my surgery on 2/6 and won't be going back to work until 2/19. I'm in and out of my car a lot so I want to make sure there is no more pain.
star2017 80 Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) I plan on taking two weeks off, I only work 2.5 hours a night delivering papers so I'm just sitting in my car, no heavy lifting involved so I figured two weeks would be enough time. Claudiarb 21 Posted February 10, 2018 I took 1 week off, no issues whatsoever going back to work except for being very tired from lack of calorie intake.HW - 209SW - 200CW - 177Surgery Date - 12/19/17 1 dgirl1229 reacted to this
Miss Topaz 300 Posted February 10, 2018 I took 2 weeks off on surgeon's recommendation. No problems working a full day (desk job) when I returned but I was tired when I got home

atphiladephia 67 Posted February 10, 2018 I went back one week after. I took it easy and made sure i spent the majority of my time at my desk and i was a little tired but perfectly fine for a desk job or light work. Waitressing wouldn’t have been possible. And teaching on your feet all day would be a little challenging. 1 dgirl1229 reacted to this
blizair09 3,250 Posted February 10, 2018 I took off for six weeks total. I have short disability insurance that pays at 100%, and they approved me for that amount of time. You will get a million different answers to this question. My advice is to take as much time as you personal, financial, and professional situations will allow. Physically, you'll probably heal pretty quickly, but there is a lot of mental and emotional work that has to be done, and if you can devote yourself to that full time for a while, you will have a better chance of longterm success.
