Stomach pain while sleeping

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced stomach pain after their sleeve while sleeping? I’m three months out, every night I wake up in the middle of the night with this pain. It’s a dull aching pain that is relieved after I get up. I’ve had this since day one of surgery I thought maybe it’s phantom pains. ???

I don't recall stomach pains at 3 months; but I did have some early on, just from healing. Any specifics...like where is this dull pain located? Lower? Around the belly button? Upper? Right side? Left Side? or just a general all over?

Have you been checked for a hernia?

I did not have continuous aching in my stomach after my first 1 month. I would suggest reporting this to your surgeon or PCP for further testing.

Ouch, sounds yukky! ((hugs)) Hang in there and ask the doc. I had similar stuff but it was adhesions.

It’s my actual stomach pouch. Well that is were it feels like. I don’t hurt while I eat or anything like that. Only while sleeping. I’m due for my three month checkup but I have to go get my blood-work first.

To me it sounds as if it’s just pressure on your healing stomach. But if it’s continuing I’d definitely let your doc know.

Do you use a CPAP? I had the same thing, my pressure needed to be dropped because of the weight loss. The machine was blowing me up like a balloon. I would wake up blasting gas out of both ends and some day in agonizing pain because of it. They say your numbers can drop with just losing 10lbs. I lost 45 when I discovered what was causing my problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
