Protien and Water will keep you full.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA.... no... sorry - that is not how it works... Protein and Water will keep you full for about 10 minutes while you wait to sip the next sip. When on full liquids and even mushies - it is hard to get Protein in that isn't a powder mixed drink. like all mixed drinks (and drinks in general) they go through your system (meaning stomach) fast - keeping you full... not likely.

All of us are going through this together - not one individual ... obviously if we are all saying that we are hungry, then maybe, just maybe, the water and protein aren't doing it. You will reach that point too. When you do - I know you will understand then and will realize that protein water just doesn't cut it. Until then don't assume that what is working for you at 3 days post op will work for all of us who are 2, 3, and more weeks post op.

Frankly, at 3 days post op - I thought I would only ever need to sip water for the rest of my life and be happy because I was very full... but now at almost 3 weeks out - I am eagerly waiting my fill because I want to feel full.

So I will get off my soapbox with this last little bit - Congrats on your band and I will pray for you that water and protein water work for you.

Pissed off and hungry for a freaking salad.

Me too... I am craving a ceasar salad with lots of romaine lettuce and fresh Parmesan cheese... ummmmm......add a crouton or two and I am in heaven.... :(

This is getting somewhere. I like a good discussion not whining. I don't know about you , but I paid thousands of dollars that I worked haard on my feet for to have the band. Now that I have it I guess I am just .... well I don't know gratefull I guess you could call it. Whatever ma come will pass. I have read over and over on this site a lone. The band works if you follow the rules. It really works. I don't know if any of you remember the DReam away pills, tried them. Or how about the grapefruit diet? Didn't work ether. And didn't my mom and I look quite stunnin in our bodywraps(lol). I don't know I am just way to grateful to finally have something that finally can and will work to complain.

I simply think your judging some of us when you can not possibly know where some of us are at only 3 days post-op. We have all read, we have all listened to our physicians, we have all seriously thought out this step heck leap we took to get our lives back. To post 3 days after getting banded and telling us to get moving, eat right, blah blah blah is adsurd.

Good for you that you paid for your surgery but you paying for your surgery doesn't put you in any different boat than the rest of us.

Every single person on this board is different. We had different pains, we had different diets to follows, different hungers, and the mental struggles that have come with the things that lead us all to the BAND. The band is the only thing we have that joins us.

So why don't you think just a bit before you post and not tell us not to be hungry when your only 3 days post-op. I'd be willing to bet 3 weeks from now you might just want to EAT YOUR WORDS you'll be so hungry.

Hello All... In reading the posts on this thread I can attest that how quickly your appetite comes back varies from person to person. Myself and my wife were banded on 10/5, we started the liquid diet and within about 7 days my wife was able to eat solid foods with very little problem while I was still choking on liquids, our dr told us it depended on the amount of swelling how quickly we could tolerate certain foods. My wife told me she felt like she is starving and I am just reaching the point where I am getting hungry on occasions, she felt like she was failing but the fact is that no one is the same. Our first fill is next week. We have had to exercise alot of willpower and hold each other accountable to sticking with the regimen. We have started walking but I have been hampered by a fracture foot I broke a week before we were banded. I encourage everyone to keep focused on why we had the surgery, to obtain a better quality of life, as with life there will be highs and lows, gains and losses but in the end it will be worth the efforts.

Three weeks out she has loss 10 pounds and I have lost 21 pounds.

Best wishes to all Oct 07 Bandsters:whoo:

why do you think that because we are here sharing our "pain" and seeking support from those going through THE SAME things we are that we are whining? you too will be here in a few weeks. but like everyone else has told you, everyone is different. maybe it wont be as bad for you as it has been for some, and that is ok and fine and great--for you! dont come down on those of us need the support that this place is designed for.

you think you are the only one who has tried just about everything out there? how about the cabbage Soup diet? south beach? Atkins? diet pill after diet pill? i could go on and on and i am sure everyone here could add another to the list. it just goes to show that we are all here for the same reasons, even if they are different.

and, hun, you arent the only one who shelled out big bucks for this. why do you think that because we are here sharing our stories seeking support does that mean that we are not working this like we should? who are you to judge?

that said...best of luck with you band. i know i love mine so far...hard times and all. this is MY light at the end of a long tunnell, and yes, i may complain, but i will work this for all i have.

I'm struggling too, I don't get my first fill until 11/15 and am still on liquids. I am hungry all the time. I'm sick of drinking Slim Fast and would LOVE to be on mushies!!!

You guys are in good company!!

I haven't made an apt. for a fill yet. After being too tight after surgery, I am afraid of a fill. Rarely hungry yet, so I'll coast as long as possible. I'm wondering if the hunger beast is ready to pounce any day now?

Let's play nice, y'all. Truth is (and we all know this): it took us years to do this to ourselves. It's gonna take a little time to take it all back off. Patience. Persistence.

I was banded on the 24th of October. I thought I would never be hungry again. I even posted a thread asking if it was possible to have restriction without having a fill. It is possible!! It's called swelling!! As of yesterday I am HUNGRY!!! I am on mushies and ff refried Beans and ff sour cream are saving my life. 4 days ago I thought I might not even need a fill for awhile, but this morning I am counting the days until November 20 when I GET MY FIRST FILL!!!!!!!! You don't have to wonder if you are in bandster #$^&%$#. Whe you get there you know it!!

Hang in there - I'm getting to the point where my rumbling stomach is becoming my best friend. I take that as a sign that I am burning fat and getting rid of all this excess around me. Then I drink Water to flush it out.

Granted, it does keep me running to the loo, but then, that's expending even more calories. I'm not crazy about feeling hungry, but I'm trying to learn to cope with it.

This is my new life now and I'm trying to embrace it. Some days are diamonds and some days are stones!!

Hang in there, you're not alone!!!

Wow. I should have read this thread before I started the new thread "Banded - now what?" Looks like I'm not the only one in bandster hell. Banded, hungry, discouraged, feeling like a failure, frustrated, etc. Actually it's a comfort to know this feeling is so common. But you don't see it in people who have good restriction - so this too shall pass. It will be a lot more fun to read our posts in December, and how about those New Year's resolutions? It's going to get better, I am sure of that. It's just really hard right now with that fear of the unknown "Did I ruin my new band by overeating? By going off mushies too soon? Am I a hopeless case? Will I ever get my act together? Is this band going to work? Did I just throw thousands of dollars down the drain? ...."

I'm just glad to know I'm not alone. Great posts everyone, awesome support, much appreciated!

I have the rumbling stomach and scared to eat. It has only been a few days and I am still very sore. Not such if the sounds from my stomach are hunger noises or the swelling going down. I am trying to stay on the liquids but ate some chicken Soup and so far so good. I kno wthis stage will pass and I will feel better. Right now I just want to feel normal?!?!? and don't know what normal will be with the band!:help:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
