NelliSleeve 32 Posted February 8, 2018 I've begun the process of undergoing the gastric sleeve surgery. I have the Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program insurance. My surgeon seems to believe that my 4 months of supervised weight loss requirement can be satisfied with a physician supervised diet that I was on in 2015 but that ended on 3/30/16. Does anyone know what the acceptable timeframe is for the supervised weight loss? I'm a little nervous that my supervised weight loss may be too old.

Cynrey 16 Posted February 9, 2018 I have Fed BCBS and they require a 3 month consecutive physician supervised diet. It has to be an appointment each month near the same date every month for 3 months in a row. I got approved and had my VSG on Dec 6, 2017. Good luck!

My supervised diet is conservative, each month for 4 months. It's just that the diet is approaching 2 years old. I don't know I guess I'll just have to wait to see. TX4everLinds 115 Posted March 21, 2018 BCBS FEP requires 3 visits with dietician/licensed nutritionist within 90 days. It says “prior to surgery” but does not say a time limit. Your old one may work but you should ask now because that first appointment with the nutritional counselors will start the clock ticking for your surgery unless your Dr has longer wait times. Other thing required by FEP Blue are:—Psych evaluation —BMI 40+ or 35+ with co-morbiditiesIf I can figure out howTo post pics on here I will post the page from FEP blue handbook.
