Time alone is big for me so getting out of the house if only for an hour or two to chill on my own helps a ton.

I'm actually a big introvert so this is me a lot of the time. I get burned out pretty quick if I have a lot of "people" time. If my wife and kid are out of town visiting family or for gone for part of the day, I'm in my glory, piece and quiet and loads of me time.

I know major changes are taking place for me personally and I'm excited about it.

Be over the moon for this!

I had moments of doubt and put off surgery from 2006-2010 ... once the mortality rate fell below 0.35% (under one person in 550 operations), I knew it was mathematically safe even for a formerly super morbidly obese person as I was.

I had two lots of ten seconds of "Is this the right thing?" before the anaesthetic. Those were 20 wasted seconds.

This is an ultra smart thing I have done ... and there's over 99% chance that it will be very good to excellent for you too, @Todd_196 ... and, just as a further good omen, I live on a street called TODD Street and my wife's birthday is 19/6 (how we write June 19 in Australia). You gotta be blessed having me comment. <GRIN>

Hi Fluffy. Woke up this morning with the blah-hahs, just took my Dexilant, now what to do? Might make myself some oatmeal, keeps me a regular woman, don't,ya know. Since I got postponed I feel like I'm just tredding Water. Did I tell you the last reason? Dr,Miller aka the Gila Monster my semi-beloved surgeon has decided he wants an Upper GI with contrast medium done. Since I'd prefer it done locally (we do,have 4+ inches of snow on the ground) his office was supposed Tuesday to fax my gastroenterologist office. Hadn't heard anything yesterday including a courtesy call from the Xray department at my local inept hospital telling,me if I have to be NPO (figure so) and for how long. Well doctor#1 had not faxed to doctor#2,as of yesterday afternoon so I ate a healthier snack, cottage cheese and pears, and went to Wally World to pick up my eyedrop refill. For the last week or more I have been battling allergic pinkeye. Look, like I've been crying all day, although they're not mattered shut the inner and, outer corners are sore and I have perpetual "sleepy dirt" there. My first instinct is to rub them and that would only make them worse. That's bad enough but my corneas must be a little swollen because I've got double vision. I went originally,to my PCP maybe I should have gone to my ophthalmologist. Well back to the inept hospital, the only reason I ever darken their door, they are close,by. The next closest is 23 miles away. This is the same place when my cousin consulted them for gallbladder pain asked if she wanted a PAP test also. She told them she was nauseated and had pain in her right shoulder, her **** was doing just fine. Looking so far like this gonna be "shall I fish or cut bait?"day. Firmly believe this is the only block to,my surgery day. Verdompt test slowing me down. Surgeon's office says when they get results we are back on track. Could be a slim change,of would still be February. He probably wants to pinpoint the exact, location of my baby gastric ulcer. Suspect it's in the part that's gonna be bypassed not the future pouch part.when they called Tuesday I was at the laundromat, I had been postponing doing it to save money in case I'd be going to Columbus for my presurgical blood work. My social security only stretches so far. Got to call my landlord and tell him the rent rent may be delayed. I can pay my bills up to current, let, part of them slide a month and pay him some, cannot pay it all, or keep money back for Columbus trip to get all the pre surg done in I day. Another rotten happening since I'm widowed and only count as 1 with JFS I lost my free out of town taxi privileges. I'd have to only, make $7000 a year to qualify as of December 31 2017. This after I had booked appointments up to my expected surgery time. My anniversary was the end of March so I thought everything was cool, nope dropped me at the end of December. Budgetary cuts, yada yada yada. So what do I have to stir from my bed for? I can text you flat on my back. I know life is supposed to be beautiful, well today it's just tedious.

what...... the........ F—K.

i bet part of the reason the OP is depressed is because he’s longing for connection with other men, in places like The Guys Room, and women come in anyway, uninvited and unwelcome, and vomit stuff like this all over him.

jesus...

In a none creepy way, yes. I was raised by women, love women, respect women. Hell I've been accused of acting like a women. But for this go around with my weight loss journey there are some things that I want and need to talk with men about.

I've not hung around with a lot of guys, and to be frank, I feel awkward around men a lot because of my upbringing and lack of social exposure with guys. I enjoy a lot of traditional guy stuff like Hunting, Fishing, cigars etc. But getting the perspective of guys on the subject of WLS is something that I need a little more than that of the ladies.

I would NEVER post in the ladies only area and I'm always hyper vigilant in making sure I look where the post is prior to posting anything. To me its a basic, unbreakable form of respect to all.

That being said, with regard to my original post. I feel a lot better today. I sat down and had a long talk with myself and did a bit of personal reflection. I wrote in my journal for about an hour this morning prior to work and I pretty much started recounting my life since my earliest memory. A life in review if you will. I see things with a little more clarity but I know I wont solve my worlds problems by just writing for a little while. I think men in general, aren't very good at taking stock of their life and putting things in perspective. We are fixers and doers. We try to act strong and be the stoic figure we are traditionally expected to be. And to a degree I believe that should be the way. However, it never hurts to expose your softer side either. Being emotionally vulnerable to other men is important and a private thing for a man. I hate to say it but as men sometime we don't need a women, we need to just be a dude.

Something that everyone needs to keep in mind: When a post comes up in Trending Topics, or Recent Topics (the lists to the right where many of us browse recent content)....there is nothing that indicates which board that post is from.

Many of the women who commented in this thread likely clicked on it there....and had absolutely no idea which board it was posted on.

To react as though their motives were in some way inappropriate....is in itself...inappropriate.

then explain to me why it never happens the other way around. huh? because you women ALWAYS use this same excuse... “oh i didn’t see the forum because it came up in Topics”...

then explain to me why us men never have this problem. why is that? are we genetically better at the internets than women? or maybe we take the extra split second to check what forum we’re posting in instead of diving right into RUNNING OUR YAMMERING CRAMHOLES to an audience who does not want to hear from us.

very interesting, this dichotomy... don’t you think?

:lol: No offense, but I'm a girl, and I don't even want to post in the Girls' Room. ROFLMAO. And as for being able to tell, well ef me, it's not rocket science, sense just about every damn post begins with PCOS in big bright letters or something like Shark Week! bahahahaha. Gah! I wanna poke my eyes out with boredom and horror!

Ok, well, so sorry for barging in. I do try pretty hard not to do it. I blame hunger and lack of coffee yesterday for posting before doing due-diligence.

Keep on keepin' on!

Look we all need to get along on this forum and follow the rules we all agreed with when we signed up.

It is what it is.

While you should check to see what area you are in is common courtesy, mistakes do happen.

However, I've seen the same excuse from BOTH genders and typically its a repeat offender. I'm not casting stones to anyone on this thread just stating what I've seen.

That being said. Lets move along!

Oh it happens all the time. Hell, I know I have done it a time or two for the exact same reason mentioned above. The thread title doesn't state women only thread on tapatalk or the trending topics. Most times it is addressed as no harm, no foul. It's nothing to get worked up over.

not NEARLY as much. i just cruised the entire first page of The Gals Room. could only find 1 post by a guy in like 50 threads. whereas there's multiple posts by females in ALMOST EVERY THREAD in the The Guys Room.

that said, it's not right when men do it either, even tho it is much rarer.

it IS something to get worked up about, as guys can not have one decent conversation without women adding their 2 cents every single time. Alex might as well just get rid of the conference, honestly. it will never work here because women will not even give the effort of pretending to respect the rules.

what i don't understand is why they would want to talk to people who don't want to hear them. disturbing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
