Need Help Getting Back On Track

Recommended Posts

Hi ! Was sleeved at the end October and Down 52lbs. These past 2 weeks i have not been disciplined. I haven't gone off the wagon per say but don't feel like I have been on a good schedule. Picking here and there and not planning actual meals. I honestly don't think im eating enough. What have been ways you've gotten back on track? Or reset the pouch as I have read. Im so happy with my sleeve. Just need to kick my butt into gear. Kinda mad at myself for it but looking for advice for others. Thanks!

I find that focusing on my Water, 10K steps per day and Protein goals helps me refocus. Water and Protein help the body fight off hunger. Hitting the 64oz of water minimum and trying to get 90 g protein keep me from being hungry. Getting out and walking 3 times a day to hit my 10K steps keeps my mind focused and my body busy. I put on energetic music and get out there! The sun, fresh air and activity boost my serotonin which helps with my attitude which helps me be happy about my goals.

Additionally, Peanut Butter. lol! It's my happy place. When I feel a little snacky I scoop a tablespoon of peanut butter & nibble away slowly, filled with Proteins and fats and not much carbs.

Leo, if there is one thing i wish i had known before surgery it would be how hard the mental game was going to get.

the long term (3-10 years) success of your GS is all about the new habits and the mental strength you develop during the first year. food goes from being a major part of your life to being almost an afterthought.

You will find yourself with idle hands and that is never good. Plan for these times and find a way to use this extra time for your benefit.

You are seeing the difficulties of the mental aspect of this surgery now and how you work thru it will be the difference in how successful the surgery is for you.

Good luck and hang in there.

The first thing to do is actually TRACK so you can see for real what you are eating.

There’s no getting back on track without tracking, so you know for sure if you are eating too much or to little or just not the right things.

Start there!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
