Roux en Y, it's also called.a gastric bypass. The Y part when they reattached the small intestine to your pouch resembles the letter y. The sleevers lose 75% of their stomach and end up with a long banana shaped tube of stomach. Bypass, we keep our stomach,in our body, it continues to produce its juices and enzymes but our food goes into a small pouch about the size of an egg, usually a chicken to Turkey size, most surgeon's do chicken but I'm sure each surgeon tailors it to the case . The food goes into The small intestine thru an opening between the pouch and intestinal limb the surgeon made, this is called an anastomosis, you might see that term floating around here. It can tighten up, that's called a stricture, it usually can be widened back up, also some people can develop an ulcer here but it's a minority that do. Both proceduree have their pluses and minuses. Does this explaination help or only confuse you? If I come across like I'm lecturing, I'm sorry for that. The food meets up with the digestive juices downstream so your food does get digested. You will lose weight with both types of surgery.

Hospital just called to give me my estimated balance due...and I just sucked it up and paid it. Aka - it just got super real! liquid diet starts tomorrow. My boss wanted to buy me a Pepsi and Cheesesteak for a "last lunch" but I made the better choice and got a super yummy salad with chicken (I did eat a few croutons). Very ready for seven days of Protein Shakes, Bone Broth, and sugar free jello!

Rah rah ain't she great? Its our Kimbers#18. A big cheer as she embarks on her journey to surgery land where her surgeon the Wizard of Weigh Loss will perform magic with his hands. Wiggly sqiggly bippity bo, a hour and a half or so and she is through. Taking a nap but she soon will rise, open up her eyes and exercise. Walk walk sip sip that is our song Walking around the unit all day long. Gaining strength, to home she'll return Getting her rest so she won't crash and burn. Kimbers will show us all the victory's won.And now my friends my poem is done. Best wishes from[emoji197]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
