I had a revision surgery from sleeve (2012) to gastric bypass Jan 29 2018. I am on a liquid diet until I see my surgeon on the 14th. With the sleeve, I didn’t feel hungry at all after surgery and was barely able to drink. But with this surgery, I am starving!!! It’s such torture cooking for and watching my fiancé and kids eating and not being able to have anything but liquids. It’s been such an emotional battle for me and I find myself literally crying over it. Am I the only one or has anyone else gone through this? Thanks!

Yes - I cook for my family too and I'm desperate to try some regularly! It's very tough. Only feels worth it when the scales are moving in the right direction.x

Lol I just got done crying because my husband stopped for food on the way to target. You are not alone but at least we are closer to the endgame than before.

I've been fixing Tomkitten things I don't like or allergic to, helps a little but not much. Since my surgery got postponed (dang it) i,could in theory,go back to regular but I've made such strides cutting back and even lost a little weight, don't want to regain even a single pound.

Hi I just found this sight and read your post. I had bypass over 15 years ago, lost all weight 285lbs and today I weigh 217. I can't have food that's not pureed since March of 2017. I was 262lbs when I got sick and everything would come back up and out. It sucks, I have been to several Drs and in November 2017 I was in hospital for vomiting blood. I was sent home 2 days later after the "EGD Dilation" it didn't help. I have an appointment with the Gastric Bypass Surgeon to find out what happened to me. Post surgery I couldn't eat dry meats at all, never could. I am telling you this not to scare you, maybe just to let you know it could be worse? My family is afraid of me dying, so am I, prayers would be appreciated, good luck to you. Not everyone is me so please don't worry about what happened to me, I have personal health issues. Take care, keep talking!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
