Recommended Posts

Today is my 19th day since having this surgery vsg. That I did want... I have lost 24 lbs . Which I am thrilled with... since Fri so 5 days ago. I have not lost 1oz....... have stayed the exact same weight to the oz..... also my hormones must be going crazy. Cause I am sooo snappy at everyone ...every noise is driving me nuts.. smells of things are making me nauseous -- my kids are small and I feel like they have been so whiney and pushing all my buttons.. I have noticed myself screaming so much more ... I really want to bite everyone's heads off that I have come in my life or speak w.......

What is going on.. I know my period is due the end of this wk.. but this is not normal for me.. I'm never this bad...!!!!!!!

Omg.....i just got done from dropping my kids off at school I literally thought I was going to have a melt down in my car.... tears were pouring I felt crazy!!!! Help.....

Are you still on any pain medications, by chance. I had some that made me RAGE. I got off those as quickly as I could. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Good luck.

Not sure I can help with the emotional issues, but please note that stalls are extremely common (very often at three weeks, but also at other times). Your body is still changing even when you don't see the evidence on the scale. Sometimes the body needs time to catch up. Sometimes the stall ends with a sudden loss. As someone pointed out, you didn't gain the weight on a daily basis and you won't lose it that way, either. Just do the program and it will happen.

For what it's worth, I hated the first month after surgery. I was so happy to be back to "real" food, even tiny bits. I still, five months out, eat very small meals, but they are a lot more "normal" than the first month. Hang in there.

I have a few suggestions: deep breathing and/or marijuana.

I have noticed that post surgery I also have had some heightened irritability and no-reason rage. Mostly I have been trying to get more sleep when possible, afternoon naps have been my friend.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
