FEBRUARY 20!! Surgery Buddy?!?

Recommended Posts

Starting my liquid diet today and having RNY surgery on February 20th. I’m so excited! Has anyone come into any road blocks this close? I’ve had a few with the pulmonary department so I don’t wanna get ahead of myself. I wasn’t that consistent with my vitamins.. any advice?

Thanks for asking. My first week has gone by fast. Down 17 lbs. Everything I can take with no problems. Kinda feel like I can go straight to solids. Lol but I will go threw the process. How are you doing

Not too bad for someone who is going to have a Rny either February 15tth or early next month depending whether the scheduling office or the surgeon's office are correct. Been getting conflicting messages, hopefully it will, all get straightened out Tuesday mornings . As the old saying goes I don't know whether to fish or cut bait. I need to either start a liquid diet or lay in supplies for later.

Well I hope everything works out for u. I think ive been so lucky because I really haven't had any problems. Smooth. I do believe my daughter is getting me sick. Lol so I need to call the drs tomorrow. I wish I was a little more prepared with my stuff like shakes.

Hi @chamomilelavender I'm February 20th RNY too. :) I'm on Day 3 of the pre-op liquid diet. So far it really hasn't been too bad; a little hunger, a little craving to chew. But, those have been outweighed by the gravity of the situation I'm in--to prepare for surgery and shrink my liver. I don't want to fork up anything, so I'm on the straight and narrow.

How are you doing?

*waves to everyone in the room* Howdy!

Thats awesome. Just the beginning of your life. Surgery will be here before u know it. The pain should be gone in a few days then you will be sore forever a few days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
