ElseeG 67 Posted February 3, 2018 Will my paychiatrist’s sign off be required as part of the psychological exam?
Allie589 171 Posted February 4, 2018 The insurance coordinator at my bariatric surgeon’s office had a list of phycologists they use for the evals. She did give me a sample letter to give my own therapist but I see an MFT, not an MD or PhD so I just went and did the session with one of the ones the bariatric people suggested. I did get extra letters from my therapist and OB supporting the surgery that I submitted to insurance as well. I was approved first time around. Don’t know if the extra letters helped or not but figured they couldn’t hurt! Sleeved 8/7/17 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 197 on 1/3/18 5'7" GW:

Losebig 508 Posted February 4, 2018 No, but the program psych person will likely see any records if they’re part of the same medical network

jmm16 11 Posted February 5, 2018 My insurance required a psychiatrist to sign off. The surgeon gave me the name of the doctor they use and it was quick and easy. I have my own psychiatrist but not all of them do bariatric evaluations so I had to go see this other doctor. Good luck!
