Changing Bariatric Team POSTop (MARYLAND)

Recommended Posts

Any experience changing to a whole new bariatric team AFTER your surgery?

I'm 8 weeks out and having an extremely rough go of it. I've been hospitalized twice postop for dehydration, I'm still not eating, barely keeping liquids down (lucky to get 16oz a day), totally bed ridden and miserable. My bariatric team is not taking this seriously enough and is not working proactively towards a solution.

I want to go to a new office, but I don't know how to begin. Any tips for finding a GOOD team? Anyone in the MD area have recommendations? I'm close to DC but willing to travel up to an hour or more for quality care.

Hey!!! I live in md. I can name several good ones. There's dr. Brebbia and dr. Juliette Lee. If you send me a private message i'll gladly share more info if needed. And yes you can change your team after surgery, just like you can change your pcp at any time.

Sorry for my delayed response, I was in the hospital for a few days (again.) But I am thankful to you both for replying.

@xoxococojay it's actually crazy but I did randomly end up with Dr. Brebbia!! I just went to a diff hospital this week to treat my dehydration and he happened to be there and helped me out. Your recommendation makes me feel even better about him now. Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
