livie1000 1 Posted January 31, 2018 Hi I was wondering if your supposed to get your esophageal tube tightened when you get surgery. I was watching someone on YouTube and they said there Docter tightened there’s making it impossible to take big bites of food and forces her to eat slowly. So I asked my dr that I was planning to have surgery with if he does this and he said no so now I’m wondering if this is supposed to be done while getting vsg surgery dose anybody know?? FromBiggie2Smallz 22 Posted February 1, 2018 I had the opposite done the day of my surgery. I had an issue with scar tissue from chronic heartburn tightening my esophagus until it was difficult for me to swallow when I ate. The day of surgery, they stretched my esophagus and haven't had an issue since. kakatlady612 1,053 Posted February 1, 2018 Tightening,an esophageal tube sounds more like something, that would happen with a Nissen fundaplicatoon or the Linx procedure. Ever heard of that one? A row of magnets( maybe like a strip?) is put in place around your cardiac, sphincter (the valve between your esophagus and stomach) and it holds it shut so you don't reflux anymore. The bad news is its nigh,on to impossible to ever vomit again no matter what you accidently,or intentionally, ingest.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
