Love how I do not crave fried food anymore

Recommended Posts

I’m just happy have not had any fried food in a little over two months and I’m just so happy I do not crave it any more. My family eats it in front of me a lot and I could care less. I’ve found freedom because of my decision to have surgery. I’m very grateful I was able to have it done. Tomorrow I see my doctor after 7 weeks post op. I hope he approves me to start working out again tomorrow. Really looking forward to start working out again.

Yes ... no deep fried foods (except for 4-6 hot french fries at a few meals) since surgery.

I do have an occasional fried egg but I use a light film of extra virgin olive-oil not a 'pool' of oil or butter.

I have minimal desire for anything fried these days.

They are greasy and yucky and I don't understand what I saw in them. R.W. it is now Panczi season, pronounced Punch-kee, an Evil Bavarian donut of Polish extraction. Although I resisted the call of the boxed donuts in the supermarket aisle the other day the Panczi display kept trying to get my attention And even said "Hey sweet stuff, I'm over here" considered knocking them on the floor but didn't want to get in trouble with management. So I said "just shut up" and kept moving toward the door.

Hahahahaha. My wife loves Panczis but knows she only gets to have one a year. I still love a donut but it doesn't love me back so it's really rare to even try a bit of one. I told a friend that yeah, I can eat it, but I pretty much have to do it on a day where I'm okay with being miserable for the next 6 hours...lol.

We tried some Chinese food from a local place we always used to order from (this about a month or two back). Obviously I didn't eat much, but even the little bit that I did wasn't enjoyable. Gave me heartburn and made me feel blah for the rest of the night. Needless to say that'll be the last time I ever have it from there. I used to worry so much that these would be things I'd miss and couldn't live without, and here I am now not caring at all about it. That's a nice feeling to have. :D

Tried two doughnuts/donuts in my 62 years, one when I was about 11 yo and the other when I was in my late 20s.

They were terrible oily crap foods then and I'm glad that I never liked them.

I'm looking forward to experiencing that kind of thing, because there are a lot of foods that I'm afraid I'll crave but can't have when I'm post-op. (And deprivation has certainly never worked for me before) Chinese food has always been my birthday/Mother's Day food...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
