I've read about so many people loosing it because they can't handle the seriousness of it all. So many of the threads in here are replete with seriousness... Where's the humor? The therapeutic, easing, making-this-heavy-****-easier-to-handle, humor? Where's it at?! Certainly not a central theme in these threads, as far as I've seen in my short time perusing them. I'd appreciate more. Maybe not everyone would. I would. Going through a bout of head hunger? Try cocaine! (Hahhhahha) Seriously thinking about eating cheeseburger two days post surgery? Oh, my god, the opportunities! And when I say "humor," in my universe, that means busting chops. But this place feels overly sensitive to that genre. F%#$ it. My name is Raffi, and I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who try to destroy the humor in that which is sacrosanct, especially regarding this serious, serious thing we've all done, which demands that we be able to laugh at it. Amen. Be forewarned...Revolution is my name. if you don't get it, go ask someone. I am coming to make you giggle and squirm. Who's with me? Ask around about" Lipstick lady" sarcasm and humor. 1 LittleLizzieLilliput reacted to this
LittleLizzieLilliput 919 Posted January 31, 2018 I think humor is important but it's also dangerous here. People can't necessarily tell the difference between sarcasm and actual advice. We have people who are in need of real information and while I totally love humor and joking (I am always joking and laughing in my real life) we have to remember the seriousness of what people are doing. Recently we had a woman who is only 5 days post op eating over 20ozs. If someone replied to her with a sarcastic joking comment it could lead her towards doing even more damage to herself. There are areas here where humor and off-topic stuff happens and that is probably where my satirical threads should go. This forum is for people who need advise, who are worried, scared, etc. I love the concept I'm just not sure this particular forum is the right place for it. I'm more worried about people's health than humor on this particular forum on BarriatricPal. 1 sleevedin2018 reacted to this

When she failed her goal for 1 week and they forced her to wear a pig nose thru that weeks meeting she never went back. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile appThat is horrible. Not losing or reaching a goal makes you feel bad enough in the first place, and then add a pig nose on top? I don't see that being any help at all. All that does is shame you and make your mental mindset worse. I would have never went back either. Shame on them.Sent from my VS988 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 orionburn reacted to this

I would have been whooping somebody's ass...lol Edited February 1, 2018 by orionburn 1 Chrisp2018 reacted to this
elforman 234 Posted February 4, 2018 I've always loved what other people often interpret as inappropriate humor. There's just something cathartic about it that makes me feel better though I have enough compassion to ensure it's never directly at the expense of others. It can be a fine line. I can be very, very dry and people aren't even sure when I'm joking when I'm talking to them, so when it's just in text form I have to be even more careful. If anyone is serious about this type of humor, I strongly recommend checking out both The Aristocrats, a documentary about the filthiest joke ever told, and Gilbert, a documentary about comedian Gilbert Gottfried whose career was derailed over a few tweets about the Japanese earthquake and tsunami were not well received. I know Gilbert is currently available on both Hulu and Amazon Prime but I don't see the Aristocrats on any service right now.

They are saying that the main page is for those who are in a desperate place and joking/sarcasm can be misinterpreted. I'm not autistic and I know humor is needed. We are just saying that jokingly telling someone you eat 2 lbs of beef 3 weeks after surgery isn't really a "joke" if nobody knows you are joking and people take you serious. People can die from complications from this surgery. I guess if making a joke is more important than people living, than yeah, humor rates as the top priority here then... 1 Hannah83 reacted to this
