2005 Vegas Bash

Recommended Posts

I have surprised myself at how much I am looking forward to this weekend in Vegas. I've long had a fear of crowds and a walking into a room where I don't know anybody is welll... not something I generally want to contemplate on a social setting. But I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you, I don't think I'll freak out too badly...

Megan: Making out? ???? What is that??? Hmmm might have to look up the new slang terms. LOL!! Way cool. And yes we could do some damage. And yes again "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." LOL!!

Ya know I don't really care where we stay (NO HO JO!!!) as long as there is taxi service to and from Lisa's because I ain't driving if I am drinking. AND I am drinking!! Gonna be celebrating my birthday (which is the 5th, presents accepted) and will be in a size 14 by then for sure. I am hoping anyway.

I wouldn't mind staying at Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, NewYork, Paris, Venetian, Harrah's, Strastosphere is ok too but someone's gotta go on the rides with me at the top.

WHOO HOO!! Vegas here I come.

Just a thought too..... checked a bit more.... Stratosphere is $107 a night, Imperial Palace is $98 a night, Circus Circus is $85 a night and Sahara is $89 a night. Being that this all has the propensity to get somewhat large of a group, the group rates will probably be even lower. The newer hotels are fairly expensive but the older more established hotels on the strip are just as nice, just not as themed or showy. I have stayed at all of the above and like them all (sahara and riviera being top choices, and circus circus being the bottom).

Do you have any thoughts or input in this De Larla??? I drive and play and stay there all the time and send people there all the time, but you live there (so you get the inside scoop ha ha ha). Surely you have a better opinion about all of these places I have mentioned than I would?

If I am invited, my vote is for either weekend. I am driving.

And just as a side note..... why not plan a quickie cruise down to mexico? Only about $300 pp for 4 nights and everything is included! (can you tell I love to travel and jump at ANY and ALL chances to leave and have fun!!!)

Penni, I will go on any ride with you, as long as it doesn't involve being hung upside down. For some reason, I cannot breathe upside down. OH!!!! and if I reach my that goal, I won't feel squished into the seat!

I'm with you on the whole taxi thing too!

Penni, have you kept track of the votes? Is everyone willing and ready to set a date in stone?

EVERYONE is invited... but, last year I learned my lesson so this year I'm not making any suggestions or recommendations on hotels! I didn't pick Howard Johnson's last year, but all the girls puked when they saw the rooms. Well, not all of them, and they really didn't puke, but a bunch of girls were running around at the last second looking for other hotels. I think any of the ones on the Strip will be fine though.

Since Penni is in control of my life, I nominate her to make the decision on the date.

OK here goes. September 9, 10, and 11 weekend in Vegas for the BASH is set in stone. Plan accordingly.

I will be there with bells on. I can stay at any hotel on the strip preferably but I am flexible. I think Excalibur sounds like fun but so do any of the hotels.

I might fly in so would need a ride. LISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there's any way I can be there, I will. Maybe I can work in a Grand Canyon Colorado River trip if my butt is small enough to fit in a kayak by then!

You are more than welcome to share a room with Vera, Becky and myself. We would love to have you and that would lower the cost even more.

Let us know.

I think Penni is confused with Band Bash and Birthday Bash. Penni, this is a Band Bash, but since you keep reminding us of your birthday, I'll be sure to have many cans of whip cream in the fridge - you know, the kind that sprays in your face? You want a birthday spanking? You got it! Payback's a bitch, ain't it? Oh boy, this is gonna be fun! And I think everyone else will agree that you should be the first to get tossed in the pool drunk in your panties this year!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
