New Scale that measures hydration?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine ahs an awesome Health O Meter scale that measures body fat, weight and hydration. So I couldn't resist buying one for myself. I have a bit of a scale obsession (well I only own 3). Anyway it says I should have a hydration level of about 50%, mine was only 22%. I guess I need to drink more Water and that may be the reason that I'm not loosing as quickly as I could. Oh don't get me started on body fat I wanted to just chop some off, LOL. Has anyone been this dehydrated? I started some gatorade fitness Water hoping to rehydrate.

Thanks,

Leena

Consumer Reports did a bit on scales that claim to measure body fat and hydration and there wasn't a single scale that was even close.

They also found that assorted digital scales are not good long term as they tend to break down quickly and easily.

I'm a bit obsessed with scales too. I'm obsessed enough that I just spend $180 on a scale! It should be delivered Monday but in all honesty, it should last me the rest of my life. It too, is a Health O Meter.

HealthOMeter 402KLWH (Health O Meter) Physician Balance Beam Scale

It's not exactly "small" so I haven't quite figured out where I am going to keep it but at least I'll have a scale I won't question anymore.

Ok, let me wipe the drool off of my face. I am in love with your scale. Do you have someone to calibrate it? I had no idea you could buy an actual scale like they have in the doctor's office. That may have to be my next one. I can just see the expression on Dh's face though, it may just push him over the edge with a giant monsterous scale in our kitchen. As it is there are 3 lined up there right now. I can just see the big one next to those three, a happy family of scales, now just one more so everyone in our family ahs their own scale. Let me know how the scale works out for you.

It comes with everything needed to calibrate it. It measures in 1/4 pounds, kilos or pounds, has wheels since it weighs so much, I can even measure how tall I am so I'll know when I start shrinking as I get old. It goes up to 500lbs which is good because usually they go to 300lbs and I have a friend who has no scale to weigh on. She exceeds the limits of most scales.< /p>

I have wanted it forever and I just couldn't justify it. I finally justified it two ways. I hate my scale now, it's a cheapo from Walgreens and besides, this one is accurate (balance beam) and it really will last the rest of my life assuming I don't gain weight and exceed 500lbs. ;)

You know, honestly I decided that I have worked really hard on weight loss issues. I have barfed in ways I didn't know were possible, I have given up most of my favorite foods (bread, pizza, etc.), I have dealt with head issues, I still deal with head issues, I have done absolutely everything necessary to lose weight including running to the point of having blisters cover 1/3 of the bottoms of my feet.

I deserve to see the numbers on a *real* scale. So the huge monster will be delivered Monday. YEA ME! ;)

My parents used to have an old, old Health-O-Meter balance beam scale. I should see if they still have it and if I can have it, if they do (since I know they don't use it now). Seriously, though, that thing was ancient.

I think you'll find that it will still do a good job for you. The quality balance beam scales last forever. And besides, when you are old and gray the thing will be worth a fortune.

From my research Health O Meter scales are the best. Every source I found said the same thing and the HOMs are cheaper than many (most?) other similar scales.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
