Slime In My Sleep?? Yuk!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been working a lot lately and eating and going directly to bed. I sleep fine and then suddenly I am awakened. Something is coming up my throat and even my nose!!! and I'm RUNNING to the bathroom!! I'm calling it slime, because I'm not throwing up....

Has this ever happened to anyone? Is it acid reflux? Might it be because I am eating and going to bed?

I know I've read on here from people that you shouldn't lie down for awhile (an hour? 2 hours?) after eating. I can't remember the exact amount of time. But I'd guess that's the problem - you're lying down too soon after eating. I'm just going off of what I've read here. Never really researched it. Maybe somebody else will see this that is more knowledgeable than me.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Been there and done that! It is never a good idea to eat and then recline imediately, or shortly thereafter. I find that unless I sit up, things feel like they are going trough an obstacle course in my gut. I made the mistake a few weeks ago of chowing down on something RIGHT as I laid down for the night. WHOA! Within about 30 minutes I had sliming, pain, sour mouth, you name it. Bad move. Check that box and won't do THAT again! I make sure I have a minimum of an hour after a meal before I lay down anywhere.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
