Do you snack in between meals? Do you have 4-5 small meals throughout the day? Or, do you just have 3 meals a day?

I usually eat 7-8 times per day, about 2 hours apart. I have eaten with this frequency since I finished the food stages after my surgery. It has served me very well.

We are told to have three meals and three snacks....and it should all balance out to 1000-1200 calories per day and 60-80grams of Protein.

So, six times a day, I eat about 150-200 calories.

I'm never hungry...it's a lot of food:)

As our stomachs stretch a bit and can tolerate a larger meal months down the road, we'll decrease Snacks to 100 calories, and up meals to 300 calories.

Eventually, we may eliminate snacks.

I try to space my food to 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm if I can... 7 am is always hot tea... 1 pm and 4 pm are meals... 10 am and 7 pm are snacks... and no matter WHAT happens I ALWAYS follow 3 rules: NO food after 8 pm... a bottle of Water between 7:30 and when I go to bed (usually i go to bed at 9 pm)... and a minimum of 3 more bottles of water spaced throughout the day

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
