Did they tell you why it wasn't allowed? Premier Protein is the go-to at my group for pre-surgical diet. We were given about a dozen choices.

If you are restricted to those two choices, try them both and see which one you like better. If you like both, use both. I've tried Muscle Milk and prefer the chocolate to other flavors--but overall, I prefer Premier to other shakes I've tried.

Pre-surgery I was only doing Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement shakes and Water. 2 week pre-op, I was allowed 1 "green" meal a day. Lean Proteins and veggies, no carb and 3 shakes a day. The final week before surgery was 5 shakes a day and water - that is it.

Don't think it really matters which Protein Drink you use so long as its a low/no carb one. Sticking to the liver reduction diet is the key. The weeks before surgery were torture -- I've never been so hungry in my life. I felt a sense of accomplishment though -- I lost 24 pound on the pre-op diet and my surgeon said my liver wasn't fatty at all.

I stuck to my pre-op like a champ as well, and was fortunate that I did not have any major hunger problems. I forgot that first week I also had the Bariatric Advantage Snacks twice a day. The driving reason for me to be such a stickler was something that my surgeon said. He told me that if I did not reduce my liver enough, they would not be able to get my gall bladder until about 6 months later. He said it very likely could be a painful few months as my gall bladder would shrink and the tiny stones grind, etc. I wanted no part of a second surgery, I wanted to be one and done! That was enough motivation for me to not cheat it at all. I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks pre-surgery.

The reason why I'm saying I cant have premier is because my dietitian thinks if I have 4 of these a day it would not be enough calories. But If I have 5 It would be too much Protein for one day.

Yes! my dietitian said that it would not be enough calories if I intake four premiers a day. but too much Protein if I intake 5 . She also said that "premier Proteins are better for post-op patients" .

I was told the Protein numbers were a minimum with no max. Also no counting calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
