Strivingforbetter 247 Posted January 27, 2018 Is it possible that the trauma of going through WLS triggered menopause? Maybe it's coincidental, but It kicked me into a period that lasted two weeks post-op starting the day of surgery, but I haven't had one since. Yes, I'm in my early 50s and due to be finished with periods, but the timing hit right when I had my surgery in June. It changes things in ways I hadn't anticipated. Somethings just aren't as comfortable as they used to be. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted January 27, 2018 Menopause is a pain no matter when it strikes. The changes can be challenging. Might just be total coincidence. Your age is right...had to happen sometime. Wishing you the best:) 1 Strivingforbetter reacted to this
XYZXYZXYZ1955 675 Posted January 27, 2018 You can certainly ask your doctor, but I'm guessing it's a coincidence. Experiences vary a good deal with it--I had very few issues with it initially but in the last year or two, there have been some hot flashes. Not that big a deal. Very happy not to have headaches every month any more! 1 Strivingforbetter reacted to this

Look into natural progesterone creme on that site. It can be bought in a health food stores and can be a real life saver. HW 274 SW 263 GW 125 GASTRIC SLEEVE 7/21/17. MrsGamgee 756 Posted February 1, 2018 Fat stores estrogen, so when you start to lose weight it releases all those extra hormones into your body and can really mess with your cycle. Add in the trauma of surgery and it's not surprising that things are a bit wonky. If you are really concerned, check with your surgeon and your gyno.
