Weight stuck from week 3 to week 6

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 12/21. I lost 9 lbs before the op and lost another 20 in the three weeks post op but since then I have not lost a pound. I am sticking to the plan but do have difficulty drinking the amount of Water recommended. I also don't exercise enough. I walk multiple times a day but don't work up a sweat. I plan to start from next week.

Other questions:
1) 5 weeks post op and my main wound opened up on one side and is still open and weeping. Is this normal? It isn't infected.
2) I get excruciating hunger pains, especially at night but when I eat, I feel like I can't get much down before my stomach hurts.
3) I still get gas after eating or drinking and live on Gas-X. Does this get better?

In general, I'm very happy I had surgery. The op was not anywhere near as traumatic or painful as I thought and I've recovered fast. I eat almost normally but small portions and have to chew well.

How do I speed up my weight loss?

You're fixing to hit a stall, if you haven't already. I can't say this emphatically as everyone is different, but this is my hunch. I hope I'm wrong, bc it sucks

prayers for your success :)

How do I speed up my weight loss?

1. Your wound opening after 5 weeks is not normal...it s/b fully closed by now. I rec. you see your Dr.
2. I can't help you there...I'm almost never hungry and have to remind myself to eat.
3. It gets somewhat better with time...but I've read it'll always happen at least, from time to time.

Don't sweat the stall. What works for me during a streak is to switch up what I'm eating. I get stuck in patterns eating the same things over and over and that seems to help break the stall.

Good luck on your journey!

VSG 10/11/17 HW = 360 SW = 292 CW = 235.4 GW = 220 (6'5")

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
