How much is everyone eating? I'm one week out and can eat 2 oz but still hungry a half hour later . When will I be able to eat more at least 4 to 6 oz?

Hi! One week post op, still Clear Liquids, my doctor had advised me to sip up to 4oz every 20-30minutes. She said that in total, I should be getting 64oz for the day. I know I was below that.

I hope this helps and congrats! :)

Had my surgery on 1/17. I honestly just constantly sip on something. Usually a bottle of Protein Water or sugar free Vitamin water. I don’t necessarily measure it out but at the end of the day I can calculate the ounces. If I drink too much at one time I get a stomach cramp so I know to stop or slow down. I also have to take small sips. Not sure if any of that helps!

I have 2-4 ounces per meal every 3 hours & drink 2 L of Water per day. I also fit a Protein Shake in & some Spicy V8 juice. When you switch to solid foods you will get 4-6 ounce meals but may find 4 is all you need. My surgery was January 18th.

Try to make sure you are meeting your Protein goal. Try to find higher Protein foods. eggs and cottage cheese have good protein and it saved me because I was like you where I get hungry quickly after. Higher protein in will help curb the hunger (for me anyway). Supplement your liquids/between meals with the Premier Protein shakes. That helps too. Once you can eat more it will become easier. I still get hungry between but I just try to drink more. My doc said 2 oz of food isn’t a lot so yes, you get hungry but get your protein goals in because it will help.

I’m 7 weeks post op and am getting about 4-5 oz in per meal.

Good luck!

When you swap to Protein dense not liquid you may not even dream of 6 oz for a long time. Depending on alot of variables . Taller people, men etc may have more space. I'm 7 m out and still on small portions. 4/5oz less for some food. 2 ounces for some.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
