I have kaiser insurance, my dr referred me and my BMI is between 37-38. I have one possible three mild comorbidities.

What was your experience with a lower starting BMI? Was there any push back from the surgeon?

What procedure did you select?

My orientation is in a couple weeks with Richmond Kaiser

The nurse asked me if I was really 5’9” or possibly closer to 5’8”. Being 5’8” added a little over 1% BMI and got me to 40% which seems to be the magic number for insurance. I also wore snow boots and my winter coat on the scale for weigh ins to help add a few extra pounds. Insurance (United Health Care) approved the surgery. Current weight 260 with a March 12 surgery date.
