Has anyone had a revision after having roux n y? I’m seven years out and gaining weight...I’m ravenous and have gained 40 pounds...cannot make myself get back on track...need help badly! I can eat normal amounts now and don’t feel full...things that used to bother me no longer bother me like Pasta.

I'm 3 years out and feeling the same. Gained back 30 pounds and trying my best to get on track again, but I started to get hunger pangs about a year ago and they have been terrible. I'm still restricted with how much I can eat at a time, it's still not completely "normal" but it's too much....trying to "reset" my pouch and thinking again starting this week, but it is HARD. I don't know where I fell off the wagon but I need to get back on :( hoping I didn't mess up too badly. Anyways I just wanted to say that you're not alone, and that we can get back on track. It's going to be hard, but I bet we can do it <3

You can call the surgeon and ask them to check you pouch and opening via endoscopy. Mine was stretched and I am haven the Apollo over stitch procedure

I've never heard of this before, I think I'll look into it.

Good luck... keep me posted on how it goes... did they tell you how long you’ll have to off work or in the hospital?

Hi,

I had gastric bypass in 2006. I lost almost 100lbs but in the last 2 years have regained almost 50lbs. I am scheduled for revision 7/31/2018. I had and upper endoscopy and my pouch to my small intestine had stretched. My insurance approved it in less than 2 months. I have bcbs ppo

I am having a revision 11-5 due to the opening between my stomach and intestines being way too big. My pouch is still fairly small but
Things are passing through my stomach quickly. I have gained about 40lbs. How was recovery for everyone? I’m having the usual pre-surgery anxiety.

Thanks,
Mary

Revision went really well! I was inpatient only 1 night. The pain directly afterwards was nearly the same as my original surgery but I feel like I felt normal much quicker! I took pain meds only for the first day I was home and then switched to Tylenol. I really am only taking Tylenol because I’ve had a terrible headache/neck ache/ shoulder ache since coming home. I’ve been told that’s my body metabolizing all the anesthesia and it should be gone within a few more days. My diet is identical to post GB. I forgot how hard it was to get all your Water in. If you have a similar issue to what I had... run to the doc, don’t walk! It was totally worth it! I’m down 22lbs from my pre-liquid diet and I’m not even a week post-op.

Just curious, I’m only 4 months out but this is kinda freaking me out! Can you tell me if there was anything specific that caused the stretching or is this just something that happens over time? No judging just wonder what’s down the road I should watch out for. I didn’t know there was a revision for this? Good luck to everyone 😊

For me... my pouch did not stretch much but that opening between my stomach and intestines did. My surgeon said it wasn’t anything I could have controlled. I also had the “candy cane” syndrome. Which again happens occasionally and there’s nothing I could do to prevent that.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
