madlily 34 Posted January 25, 2018 I'm almost done with my prerequisites for surgery (psych appointment next week, last class beginning of march). I'm curious how long it took for you to get your insurance approval and your visit where you schedule your surgery? Since my class is March 2nd, I'm hoping to have insurance approval within a week after that, and then hopefully be scheduled for the end of March/beginning of April. I'm just wondering how realistic this is, and what your experiences are. Thanks!
J_Mkay 17 Posted January 25, 2018 I'm starting that process now. Just finished my psych evaluation. I have to get clearance from a cardiologist ( that appointment is in Feb), and I have the medically supervised diet. I hope to be scheduled by june. Good luck to you! I have to have my lap-band removed. But once they submitted everything to insurance I heard back within a couple of weeks (I think it would have been faster but it was submitted around Christmas) I hope you hear something back quickly! Yeah, I'm definitely hoping before June. I don't have any time requirements for weight loss. Just to lose the 5% and I'm already half way through that. So I'm hoping the insurance approval won't take long (I have good insurance through the hospital I work at, which is where I'll have the surgery) so I didn't have too many requirements. kitty1392 14 Posted January 28, 2018 I had BCBS of Texas and it took two weeks... I actually had to push back my surgery date because of it. However, my surgeons office told me my insurance company is their least favorite to work with because they always take the longest. Ironically, my insurance was also through the hospital I work at, and where I was having my surgery. You’d think they’d give me a break! 1 lovemy2girls reacted to this
abefroman329 704 Posted January 29, 2018 Insurance approval took about a month. That was late September. I think the earliest I could have had the surgery was late October or early November, but I opted for December 20th so that I didn’t have to go on the pre-op liquid diet over Thanksgiving and so that I could spend the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s recuperating.
