You are not a failure. Do you see your doctor (surgeon) regularly? I would get on a liquid, high Protein diet for 4 weeks to get back on track and see the doctor. You can do it! You've been through worse!

I had the flu shot just like every year and I still got it. Do you realize since its a virus every time it passes through a host(one of us) it mutates so although they do their, best,to match to the most prevelent strains sometimes its only a 60% match. So one,of the remaining 40% chewed on me. Not as bad as I would have been witout immunization but enough to get my attention. And since,i'm asthmatic things don't want,to,leave my lungs, they set up housekeeping and to evict them I have to be on medication.

I am hoping you make an appt with your dr, maybe a small fill ? Perhaps load up on Protein Drinks, Protein Bars , eggs, tofu. Whatever you know works for you...i think half the battle is at the store!

Please don't mistake me for someone who has the right answers....ive been at this 11 years and just experienced a weight gain I never thought i would have again....now, i do have a bit of a fill, but it is a long journey!

I try to remember that I don't have to be at my destination ,but need to be on the road headed the right direction...and moving

Best of luck

Ps. You are not a failure!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
