Jerseygirl4523 44 Posted January 24, 2018 My surgeon requires exercise and nutritionist clearance. However, my insurance—Anthem BCBS— does not cover these appointments. So far the exercise counselor is making me come back for a follow up. I see the nutritionist for the first time next week. How many time did you have to go back until you got clearance for exercise or nutrition?
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted January 24, 2018 Once a month for 6 months for nutritionist, and all my insurance required for exercise was a log of my activity - perhaps you could explain that since your insurance doesn't cover these visits - would a daily spreadsheet of activity fulfill the requirement for the surgeon's office. I used my fitbit steps, plus square dancing and hiking. The nutritionist required a log as well and I used the free app Baritastic.
Jerseygirl4523 44 Posted January 24, 2018 The nutritionist at my surgeon’s office requires us to keep a log as well. I’ve been using myfitnesspal because they can link it up to your mychart account

My dr has an in house nutritionist and I had to come back once a month for 6 months and keep a daily food record, however my insurance covered it and I only had to pay my co-pay.
