Liver Diet starts tomorrow !

Recommended Posts

Hey all-

My surgery date is 2-7-18 and i start my liver diet tomorrow which will consist of 2 Premier Protein shakes and 4oz of meat and veggie for dinner. I can also have unlimited non starchy veggies throughout the day (like spinach, cabbage, ect) along with 1/2 cup of fruit with a shake and a nonfat greek yogurt as a snack.

One thing i have been striving to work hard on is my mental. Im sure i will be able to do it and i need to stop letting food fill different voids in my life.

Is anyone else starting tomorrow with me?

Hi!! Yes!! I am starting tomorrow and I have the same surgery date as you! You're pre-op diet sounds much better than mine. I have to do ALL liquids. I'm also doing the Premier shakes. 4 a day plus things like broth, sugar free Jello or pudding, low-sodium V-8 juice. The closest thing to solid I can have is some cream of wheat! But I'm determined to stick to it and start off on the right foot. I can't wait to get healthy! Let's keep in touch...:)

Hello newbies, I just got sleeved yesterday and am now home after one overnight stay. I was put on a liquid diet for two weeks pre op. No solid food whatsoever. I had mandatory Optifast shakes 800 calories per day plus vegetable broth and some sugar free Jello. It was miserable and I was hungry everyday but after two weeks of not cheating I realized my fear of complications for not doing the diet was greater than my food addiction.

Right now I’m going through severe stomach pain with each swallow followed by gurgling, possibly gas bubbles coming up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
