How long were you off work post-op?

Recommended Posts

I had RNY on December 14, 2017 and had 6 weeks off. Just went back to work on 1/25/18. I’m at a desk all day but I run a very busy desk so time goes by and I forget to eat or drink Water. Grateful I had that time off to train myself to drink the required amount of water.

I have a desk job (mostly) and I was off for 3 weeks, that was plenty of time.

I had surgery 12/18 and went back to work 1/2. I'm a Physical Education teacher so I took advantage of my 2 week Christmas break. After my 2 weeks for surgery and recovery I was definitely ready to return to work. My experience was a breeze. No issues at all. I hope you have a speedy recovery as well. It's really an easy process. The mental is the toughest part. If you have a great surgeon, they'll always put you in the best possible situation to be successful. Good luck to you.

I have a super non body required job and I still took two weeks off. If you are able to do it I suggest it the time off really helped me understand my new needs and gave me time to accept some of the emotional challenges that come with this change

I had surgery (by pass) on January 30th and back to work February 6th.. I have a mostly desk job .... I did ok but was very tired. Yesterday was my 2 weeks since surgery,, still tire easily but from not taking in very many calories... the days I start a new stage I wait until I’m home to start them as I don’t want to have any negative effects while at work lol but it’s getting better!!!

I took just a week and found that to be plenty. I have a desk based job and found the routine helped significantly with the recovery. I was able to monitor Fluid intake and food much easier than being at home. I did have to go for a walk every hour or so to keep the trapped wind pain at bay.
