Need advice from 1+ year plus

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

So had my surgery this time last year at my heaviest I was 21 stone or 131kg and over the last year I have lost over 9 stone, back the gym regularly.

However just recently I have noticed I have been having small dizzy spells, I think it is low blood pressure, a midwife friend said it could hypoglycaemia. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this

My food diary is typical to this

Breakfast 8:30

200ml granola

200ml semi skimmed milk

200ml fresh orange

snack 10:00

2 hard boiled eggs

lunch 12:30

Wrap with salad and various meat filling each day

Snack

10calorie jelly pot

dinner

Genuinely chicken, rice and veggies

I don’t drink tea or coffee so it’s diluting juice mainly which I would say I am not bad at drinking (could always be better)

Any advice on foods or experience would be greatly appreciated

I was getting really dizzy a few weeks after surgery and finally collapsed and then went to the doctor. According to her, it was one or all of the following:

1) Hypotension

2) Dehydration

3) Standing up from lying down too quickly

So how did you deal with it if you don’t mind me asking, do you still have that now

My dizziness after surgery was caused by low blood pressure. Stopped my blood pressure medications and the problem was corrected.

I had a very bad insulin problem: I went for my walk (as I always did) when i got home I decided that I needed to rake the leaves. I became so dizzy and weak I almost didn't make it in the house. I checked my blood sugar, it was 294. Before this (I was diabetic before I lost my weight) I was confused because my BS had been in the 120's. I drank a Protein Drink and headed to lie down. When I finally went to see my DR he looked at my ledger and seen what had happened. He told me that I had REACTIVE BLOOD SUGAR. My blood sugar had dropped so low that my Pancreas kicked out lots of insulin, that is why I had the super high BS. Strange but true. I hope you figure it all out. Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
