Jerseygirl4523 44 Posted January 23, 2018 The 2018 benefits book for my employer just came out and it says “if pre-service authorization is received, the medical plans cover gastric bypass or lap band surgery if specific criteria are met” slightly nervous. But my patient coordinator at my surgery center knows I want the sleeve and provided me with my insurance requirements. Maybe it’s just poor wording?
KCgirl061 1,532 Posted January 23, 2018 I’m willing to bet it’s poor wording. I can’t imagine an insurance company willing to pay for bypass but not the sleeve. It’s probably because bypass is the more known procedure and people not familiar with bariatric surgery don’t know about or think about the sleeve.
