The night before gastric bypass surgery.

Recommended Posts

The long awaited day is finally here. So many thoughts running through my head. Thinking of a positive future where I am healthy and active. Also fearing that I will leave my 5 year old and 2 year old motherless. Aside from my husband and kids, I have told no one else about my surgery. Hopefully a year from today I will be posting about how successful the year was and how my life has changed for the better.

I m certain you will be just fine, you are going to be setting a good example health-wise foe your children. Don't be be blue @ blue girl I'm sure you are in good surgical hands. Sure, you can be a smidge fearful but you are doing a good thing, you will, have the chance to be the fun game playing mom who will be here to watch them grow up. Pretty cool isnt it?

Today's my Big day too. I too am leaving 4 kids and my hubby to go have surgery. At first I felt selfish but I always put them before my own want and needs and that's how I ended up like the because I neglected my own health in order to make sure they were always happy and healthy. For once I need to put myself first and I need to take care of myself in order to take care of them. I know it's hard to leave them but you're doing the right thing for yourself in order to have a good future for all of you. Good luck today sending good vibes. I will see you on the losers bench.

I am in the same boat you are. My hubby and I both have surgery in the morning. For the most part nobody else knows, including our kids. It’s nerve-wracking, to say the least! It’s all right, though, we got this! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
