abefroman329 704 Posted January 23, 2018 I tried chicken breast again at lunch today and it went OK, not great, but I didn't puke it back up, either. Yesterday my dietitian said I could also do lunch meat, that seems simple enough.
sleeve-worthy2017 20 Posted January 24, 2018 I wonder if anyone else has had trouble in the beginning of solid food stage with eating meats? If so, what did you eat instead for Protein until your body did better with meat?Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile appVeggie burgers have a great amount of Protein in them and don’t taste that bad. I tried Trader Joe’s Thai Chili Veggie burger and love it. 1 Creekimp13 reacted to this
Mhy12784 423 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) At around 4 weeks I was fine with fresh fish. But struggled with red meat at 5 weeks. Around 7 weeks I was eating red meat fine, and by 9 weeks I can eat absolutely everything and have never had a problem with anything since struggling around 5 weeks. I dont take small bites (I mean small compared to how I was preop, but im eating basically a teaspoon sized bite at a time) with only 30 seconds between bites or so. I would strongly recommend brining any lean meats (ie chicken) If you arent familiar with brining, its worth reading up on google. Basically adds moisture to lean meat making it taste better (and easier to chew/swallow) Edited January 24, 2018 by Mhy12784
marshadwn55 1 Posted January 25, 2018 I also eight weeks out, surgery 11/21/17, I can eat pork tenderloin or chops, okay, only a bite or two. No beef yet, if you have Panera's near by...try the Turkey Chili, 59 grams of Protein in the bowl servings, takes me all day to eat it. I am still struggling to meet the goals. Pretty much eating the chili and Soups, no where close to being back to normal.
