After surgery your body is in a major heal mode. Many people find it difficult to reach there daily Protein and fluid goals within the first month. Generally they will be able to meet these goals within the first month. If the nausea that you experience should continue and get worse to the point that you cannot even drink Water, then perhaps an underlying condition such as an ulcer might need to be looked at.

Try slowing down your intake - smaller sips. You should start off with 1-2oz every 15 mins (sipping over the 15, not taking shots).

After a few weeks, you should be able to do 1-2oz sips...and then a few weeks later maybe more.

I am 70+ days post op, and if I take too big of a chug, or eat too quick, I get a knot in my gut, some pain, and feel nausea.

You may be drinking too fast or too much. Try a tiny amount and see if that helps. I wasn't hitting fluid goals until about 2 weeks out and had to thin Protein Shakes with Water because they'd get stuck. It does get better and at this stage it's relatively normal.

I had surgery on January 18th. I requested a patch for nausea behind my ear before surgery & they told me it would last a week. I haven’t been nauseous once since surgery. My pain has been minimal but I have taken meds at times & before bed. I’ve already had 2 L of Water today. I eat five two ounce meals (liquids) a day. I have yet to feel restricted or overfill my pouch. If you having pain or nausea issues I would suggest calling your surgeon immediately so you can get the proper meds. I don’t anticipate needing any nausea meds after the patch wears off & I’m pretty sure I won’t be needing any more pain meds. After my two week post-op appointment my meals will change to 4 ounces (puréed) on a 2-3-2 plan. Eat within 2 hours of waking up then every 3 hours throughout the day and my last meal 2 hours before bed. After 2 weeks of that I’m onto solid foods. Hopefully you can get some meds that will make it easier for you to tolerate things. You got this. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
