You will be pooping out the small amounts of waste products from the food you are eating and off course metabolic by-products such as broken down components of red blood cells etc. xx

Well I’m 2 weeks out today and 42 pounds down, started eating soft foods yesterday, found a couple things that didn’t sit, ketchup was a little irritating and I went out to eat last night and had broiled haddock, it was going down fine and I made a very bad choice, tarter sauce is the devil!! Lol
I was good until the tarter sauce, must have been the oily aspect, it did say to avoid them but I was doing good, it did not stay down and hurt like hell, I guess it’s a learning experience, yet I made deviled eggs with light mayo and it sat well, good luck everyone, I’ll keep posting my progress and blunders

Other than the tarter sauce everything is awesome and I’m doing well, definitely happy I made this choice

Yeah it’s dropping fast, I notice many changes already, I lost 1 inch off my neck, chest, and around my belly button, and 2 inches off my waist already

I'm a little dubious. 3 pounds a day? Wouldn't that be like 10,000 calories burned per day? How is that possible?

Down 2 more pounds, everything is great, I got to see the doc today, he said it was ok to take the strips off my wounds, they look great, the nutritionist gave me great ideas for food so I’m excited, starting to get hunger pains finally so I know when to eat, everything is good!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
