Will this work if taking mood stabilizers?

Hi. Has anyone out there had success despite taking mood stabilizers that can cause weight gain? I’m on a low dose of lithium and am considering Gastric Sleeve. I obviously don’t want to just regain all of the weight due to the meds.

Yes. At a talk I went to, my surgeon said that most of his patients are on antidepressants of some kind and you can still lose weight.

If you have a mood disorder (like bipolar or something), you should make sure that you are getting regular counselling after the surgery. Physically, you should be able to lose weight, but there is a lot to deal with psychologically once you have had surgery. I hope that helps.
