Aran1030 26 Posted January 21, 2018 4 weeks post op . I had a hiatal hernia I was not aware of at the time of my surgery and my surgeon fixed it while I was getting my sleeve. Well, I have no idea what happened but since my surgery I get acid reflux / heartburn (I don’t know which it is ) everyday at some point in the day. Not sure what causes it. I have a Doctor appointment Monday. But first how do I know which it is or is it both ? And most importantly..... is it going to go away. I’m so sad and discouraged ! I don’t look forward to such an uncomfortable feeling. HELP ! Anyone else had this ? hw: 246 sw: 235 cw: 215 gw: ? Sleeved :Dec 19, 2017

pinkbunies 359 Posted December 26, 2018 I've learned to keep mints by my bedside because sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night choking on my stomach acid. I take Pantoprazol, which is prescribed. Watch what you eat. Sweet Tea gives me heart burn. ketchup causes me to have acid reflux. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Lolo 2020 236 Posted December 26, 2018 Tomato and chocolate cause heartburn . I had acid reflux ( which causes the heartburn) before the surgery and also had a hiatal hernia repaired . I take Prevacid and gas x first thing in the am . That covers me for the the day . Not sure the acid reflux will actually go away with the hernia repair , but I will be pleased if it does
jaadan79 19 Posted December 26, 2018 They say you shouldn’t lay down for about 2 hours after eating. I believe that rule applies for ppl that didn’t have WLS
