Big Day Tomorrow... 10/26

Recommended Posts

Headed to the hospital tomorrow at 7am. By this time tomorrow I'll be one of the "Banded Bro's". Not really nervous about it at this point but it might hit me when they wheel me in.

How were you guys feeling the first couple days after? My neighbor is having a Halloween party tomorrow night. Thinking there is no way I'll make it but maybe I won't feel as bad as I think I will.

Its all on you and how you manage pain. I would say the first couple days were the worse for me. The main pain was gas. To help get rid of it the best thing to do is walk and it will help expel it. Other than that it was just soreness.

Good Luck with your surgery !

Good luck tomorow. As already stated it all depends on your tolerance for pain. Are you staying overnight in the hospital? I thought my nurse kept pumping me full of narcotics but she just kept giving me toridol(sp) every 6 hours which from what I am told is just glorified motrin. Really not much physical pain but plenty of gas. I took gas-x and walked and moved around alot and that kept it moving. If you are home I don't think you will be up to going to a party. For the first couple days every time I got up I got light headed and broke out in a sweat until I sat back down. I think that was the lingering results of the anestesia though. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Chris

I Survived! Not too bad with the gas pain after the first day but certainly sore from the incisions. Anaestheologist was tell me they had problems putting in the breathing tube and they ended up having to use Fiber optic and if I ever had surgery again make sure to tell them blah blah blah. I was still in lala land when he was telling me this and didnt' catch it all. No nausea the first 24 hours but then have had a few bouts lthat ast a couple hours then it's gone. Anyone else experience that?

I think its probably just the Ansthesia wearing off but keep in contact with your Doc if it gets bad. Remember all kinds of crazy fluids have been put though your body.

I new to the site. I am having my surgical consult on Friday. It is good to know that there are sites for men who are having the lapband procedure. The best of luck with your surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
