I was told I’m not allowed to have fresh salsa. I was told I can only have salsa from a bottle?! Has anyone else been told this? If so do you know why? I keep forgetting to ask the nutritionist.

thanks

I've never heard of this. Do us all a favor: Ask your nutritionist & report the reason back here for all of us to learn from. Thanks.

Sounds like utter horseshit to me. I only eat fresh salsa, the canned/jarred crap is nasty.

If your nutritionist says one word about the acidity of fresh salsa, dump them because they are an idiot. Stomach acid has a ph level of about 1.5-3.5. A habenero has a ph level of 5.8. (1 being most acidic and 14 being most basic)

The OP is a little over two weeks out from surgery. I'm guessing it's because jarred is cooked and has less of a chance of getting stuck. I'm further guessing that fresh will be approved at around 6 weeks post op.

I completely agree - I'm guessing it's just because you are so early on. I wasn't allowed fresh tomatoes until like 8 weeks post op. But do report back, I'm interested to know the real answer!

Like the others have said I'm guessing it's because of how freshly post op you are. I was not allowed to have raw vegetables in any form until 12 weeks post op.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
