Surgery tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Well tomorrow’s the big day. After a four week pre-op I have to be at the hospital at 9:00 & surgery at 10:30. A little nervous but ready!

Yes I made it perfectly clear that I want the Ativan as soon as possible.

You will ace it! I was an anxious wreck and they gave me a huge fast acting shot of midazolam that calmed me right down. Just let them know you’re nervous, they’ll take care of you. I’m out the other side and can assure you it’ll be just fine! Good luck :)!

Thanks so much! This is my second attempt my nerves got the best of me on May 30, 2017. I was already in the hospital with an IV in my arm and ended up going home.

And that’s okay - maybe at that time of your life you weren’t ready. Just remember all the reasons why you’ve opted to do the surgery and everything you stand to gain by doing it. You’ve got this! [emoji1377]

Thanks so much. I’m in my room now. I feel great except for right below the middle of my rib cage. Should be walking in an hour or two.

4 days post op and feeling pretty good. Is it normal to still have pain in largest incension on the left side of my belly. I have followed my doctors orders and stayed on meds that were prescribed. I am not sure if meds will last until my pain stops. Anyone else experienced this? Thank You.

It'''s fairly normal only 4 days out. I had sporadic incision pain for weeks, though after the first week didn't need pain killers. If you need more talk to the DR, though in many cases you go from regular use to not needing them almost overnight so you might be ok.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
