Xerox 14 Posted January 16, 2018 I was prescribed a Multivitamin that is non-chewable and tastes unbearable. I have been crushing it up and just chucking it to the back of my mouth and drinking Water but its making me gag. Any tips on how I could take these? I am 2 weeks post VSG. MissSimpson 81 Posted January 16, 2018 (edited) Can you crush it up and put it in applesauce or pudding? Our school nurse does that for kids who won’t/can’t swallow a pill. Edited January 16, 2018 by MissSimpson
Xerox 14 Posted January 16, 2018 I can give it a try, I can imagine it still tastes awful though, just wondering how other people get it down.
Xerox 14 Posted January 16, 2018 I just made my Protein in to a pudding consistancy and added my pill to that, managed to get it down without gagging so thats an improvement.
kaydo 63 Posted January 17, 2018 Could you just take a chewable instead? I don't love my Celebrate chewables but they're tolerable. 1 Gnat reacted to this
Myaiku_Kuraitani 245 Posted January 17, 2018 I just either take gummies or recently I've found a pill on my own by a brand that I can just swallow whole and it's tiny.... But it's an Iron supplement not multivitamin. I can't do chewables, they make me gag. As for the advice for the multivitamin, how many months post op are you? If you are not just starting out, see if your PCP can prescribe you a multivitamin that you can just swallow whole. I did that and it's working out fine.Hw-273Sw-226CW-142GW-130Size- 4 or 6, Small in sweats. They said the same thing to me and it's what I'm currently doing. I've lowered how many pills I take by getting the B12 shot. Some people eventually do the vitamin patches and don't even take any pills at all. It just depends on what your surgeon says is okay to take and what you will absorb.Hw-273Sw-226CW-142GW-130Size- 4 or 6, Small in sweats. NervouslyExcited 5 Posted January 19, 2018 So I can’t stand chewable vitamins so I haven’t been taking any. I was finally told I can use the multivitamin patch. So I just got that ordered. I was told I was unable to do Vitamins in pill form right now because the body doesn’t absorb them as well. Every Dr. Is different.

Gnat 15 Posted January 19, 2018 I’ve been taking Celebrate chewables and hate them. Really tart and they actually make me a little nauseous. I’m definitely going to ask the doctor about vitamin patches though!
Gnat 15 Posted June 4, 2018 Update for those who come across this - I haven’t used the Patches but I’ve been taking New Chapter Tiny Tabs and they’ve been great. They look like little rabbit pellets and I take 6 a day, get them off Amazon for $24.
Matt Z 4,139 Posted June 4, 2018 I've been using the PatchMD Patches, waiting on the official word back on my blood tests (which should be the 18th of this month) but unofficially, comparing the results myself, it appears as if *most* of my levels are the same or better than pre-surgical tests, and the 1 that was low before surgery, is still about the same level of low. So, initial non-professional opinion on the patches is that they work well enough. I'll have a post when I get the official word. 1 Matt Z reacted to this
