The picture is was featured in Time Magazines Oct 1st issue.

Can you provide a direct to this article on the time magazine website.:) It seems rather funny that this is the first time one is hearing about this, and I watch Fox, CNN, and MSNBC...I am sure one of these news channels, especially FOX would've ran away with this!!

Hate probably isn't the best word. Sheer disgust, embarrassment, illiterate... those might be better words regarding Bush.

Perfectly said.

If other countries have presidents do they stand for America too?

I would think that each country's president would stand for that country. Are you confused by my statement? We were discussing America, the President, the National Anthem, the Flag. I don't see where other countries' presidents would be involved. I stand by my statement.

LOL...look online and you can find pictures of your beloved comrade, I mean President Bush not saluting the flag durnig pledges as well. Being a patriot has nothing to do with making a pledge; it has to do with taking approriate actions

Bush_Hand.jpg

Perhaps Bush isn't smart enough to know where his heart is?

I still say Hillary is holding a boob in place and now it appears that Bush is protecting his belly button. That's giving him the benefit of the doubt about the heart location thing.

At least the children in this photo know where their heart is.

He could also be holding in his laughter of making a mockery of the United States Constitution, UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), and the original goals of the Republican Party (less government and less spending).

Oh, I don't know. I tend to think that he is simply unfamiliar with the pledge. ;)

Forgetting to put your hand over your heart is lot less unsettling than forgetting: The Geneva Convention, Constitutional Separation of Executive Branches, the general consensus of our forefathers about the separation of church and state (this is actually not in The Constitution), the US is not historically in the business of starting wars, that zero tolerence in school matters equals zero intelligence (NCLB), how to be fiscally responsible equitably, and leadership by fear-mongering is akin to fascism.

I would like to see a film of this event. Knowing the manipulations of the media, it would not surprise me if it was just the beginning of the anthem or just the end and he either put his hand up a second after the others or put it down a second before.

And if indeed he stood there like that the whole time, are you seriously making those assumptions about his intelligence and motives? Could there possibly be other reasons than those you stated?

My hope is that more and more people question what they're fed by media interests.

You are completely right about this. The media sometimes only gives us half of the whole story.

But people, please remember we are humans and to err is human (or something like that). Many times I've made an idiot of myself and done stupid things without knowing. Like clapped when not time to clap, or in church, stated to stand up/sit down before everyone else.. You know, stuff like that. I don't always salute at the National Anthem, just like I don't always stand/sit in church.. That does not define me as a person or define my beliefs.

As for me, I think I'm going to vote for Hillary, I don't agree with everything she is about, but because in my lifetime I would like to see a female president. So you go girl! And all candidates, promise more than they can accomplish, come on, 4 yrs is hardly enough time to fix so much screw up from the past. I think they all have good intentions when they come into office and I hope and pray that they have my countries best interest at heart, but at the end of the day, they are just like me and you.. And yes, you and I screw up.. Just a matter of life.:clap2:

You would actually vote for someone based on the fact that they have a vagina? Are you SERIOUS?

No wonder we have Bush in office now.

Yes, I am dead serious.. How many years, have men been running our country?? Oh yes, they have done a marvelous job, look at were our country stands.. Seems to me that a woman, might just get the job done. :clap2:

And I'll stop right here, because politics and religion are forbidden subjects for me.

I think Hillary is a strong candidate. I would rather she be in office, than the idiot we have in office now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
