Obama forgets to salute flag...........

Recommended Posts

Yes, I am dead serious.. How many years, have men been running our country?? Oh yes, they have done a marvelous job, look at were our country stands.. Seems to me that a woman, might just get the job done. :clap2:

And I'll stop right here, because politics and religion are forbidden subjects for me.

I think Hillary is a strong candidate. I would rather she be in office, than the idiot we have in office now.

I only vote based upon issues that are important to me. I believe that Madeline Albright stated that women would still start wars. Remember how catty they were in school? Wasa is right. People voted for Bush because they liked him more and wanted him to finish what he started in Iraq.

The logic of voting on gender over ability is what got us in the mess we are in today with Bush. That logic just isn't reasonable. The queen of mean had a vagina too, doesn't mean she'd make a good prez. We aren't in the problem we are because those in office have a penis, we are in the problem we are because those in office don't have any balls or care for the people of the US.

People tend to vote more on their impulses or party lines than anything else. 80% of American voters vote their affiliated party line, no matter the candidate. That is a fact, supported by years of research.

Bill Clinton wasn't perfect, but he was a good president. His wife is a walking nightmare. Give her a few years, and we'll all be comrades.

We had a female prime minister in the UK , do none of you remember the Falklands war, when Argentina invaded the Falkland Isles, Maggie Thatcher was prime minister then and she was quite happy to go to war.

all candidates, promise more than they can accomplish, come on, 4 yrs is hardly enough time to fix so much screw up from the past. I think they all have good intentions when they come into office and I hope and pray that they have my countries best interest at heart, but at the end of the day, they are just like me and you.. And yes, you and I screw up.. Just a matter of life.:clap2:

I still stick to what I said.

I think I'm behind on this thread, but kneejerk patriotism seems stupid to me. I don't care if someone salutes the flag. I care if someone has good ideas. I note that Republicans seem to cotton on to ridiculous things rather than look for the truth. I'm sick of that. Look what the Republican party has done. It has moved the U.S. toward fascism, not that I'd expect you to understand that term. This is not the America I grew up in. I'm in severe pain due to my back, so I'm cranky. But this sort of thing really irritates me. I wonder why people don't study the Constitution instead of going for stupid pictures like this.

And the dems want us to be like Old Mother Russia !

Even if the Dems did want the US to be like old Mother Russia, the Republican leadership has in reality taken us closer to that model. Electronic eavesdropping on citizens without warrants. Secret investigations without recourse. Suspension of Habeas Corpus. The use of water-boarding and not calling it torture. Spending money like it grows on trees. What happened to the Republican party I grew up with, which cared about smaller government and fiscal responsibility? When people start using loose terms like dems and neo-cons or liberals and conservatives, they are taking a narrow view without the benefit of objective thought. The right answer is typically somewhere in the middle.

Please reconsider using critical thinking skills. Even just one!

Confucius Says........

When we see men of contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves. :D

Bruce Lee in the "Tao of Jeet Kun Do" says: "Those who desire fiscal notions only do not see their ignobility, as their internal indoctrination is already ethically corrupt." I'd say that's pretty fitting of those who start wars for oil.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
