Obama forgets to salute flag...........

Recommended Posts

and he wants to be our president. So whats his excuse this time? Now you know why I dislike the liberal left.

:D

Have a look at the photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of "Time." It shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, IA during [according to the photo caption] the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands on their heart. But not Obama. Does he perhaps believe that, like wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn't "true patriotism"?

:faint:I am a left leaning liberal, but he isn't my Presidential choice--I do know that this is America and there are a few religions that ask their followers not to salute the flag, or recite the Pledge. Maybe he is a Jehovah's Witness...I don't know...My candidates Patriotism isn't one of my top concerns. Wearing a flag, or properly holding ones hand over heart during the anthem does not necessarily make them a Patriotic person, maybe a grandstander or poser, like shrubby in his pick up truck and cowboy hat.

Huh? If a president is not a patriot then they have no need apply for the job.

I understand where you're coming from on this...but he's actually the one doing it correctly! (from what I've learned, at least)

I'm a singer, and have been in countless choirs since the 4th grade, so I've definitely done my fair share of national anthem singing. What I've always been taught is that during all pledges (state and national) you cross your heart with your hand, and during the national anthem you simply show your respect by standing.

It is kind of unfortunate for him though, that he's the only one in the picture and seems to not be showing respect for the flag...makes him stand out in a not-so-good way.

The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem The pledge of allegiance should be rendered by standing at attention, facing the flag, and saluting.

When the national anthem is played or sung, citizens should stand at attention and salute at the first note and hold the salute through the last note. The salute is directed to the flag, if displayed, otherwise to the music.

I simply mean, I want to hear what he is GOING to do for this country. Not what him/her being so Patriotic means he will do.. I am a don't tell me, but show me kind of person. This current President have TOLD us how much Patriotism he has:omg:... I'd rather see it, and be the judge of it myself.

If the person running for president of the US doesn't have the intelligence to properly attend to the flag of the nation they want to lead then they are out for personal gain only and could care less about the country and what it stands for.

Just my opinion.

I would like to see a film of this event. Knowing the manipulations of the media, it would not surprise me if it was just the beginning of the anthem or just the end and he either put his hand up a second after the others or put it down a second before.

And if indeed he stood there like that the whole time, are you seriously making those assumptions about his intelligence and motives? Could there possibly be other reasons than those you stated?

My hope is that more and more people question what they're fed by media interests.

Not saluting for the Anthem makes him after the highest office in the country for personal gain...then what was The Bushes excuse , because he SALUTES EVERYTHING:rolleyes:...

JMHO..

I stand corrected! Like I said, that's just what I had always been taught.

Still, I don't really see it as that big of a deal...I highly doubt his lack of salute was because he's unpatriotic.

Bush may know how to hold that wrinkly old hand over his heart, doesn't mean he gives one rip about this country.

People have a right to express themselves as they see fit. Nobody has a right to demand otherwise.

For goodness sakes, a monkey can be taught the same act of holding his hand over his chest. Doesn't mean he's any better than Bush and quite frankly, I'd vote for a monkey over a Bush type anyway.

Darn good thing you end every post such as this with "Just my opinion" because if you had facts to defend your case you wouldn't need an opinion. You'd have a fact.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
