Quaker Granola Bites

Recommended Posts

Oh, and they are nice and crunchy, too. I don't know about anyone else, but I have problems eating anything chewy. I stay away from most soft granola or breakfast bars because they make my teeth hurt. I've not had that problem with crunchy things, so these granola bites are pretty good from that standpoint, too.

I used them to make a quick desert. We have a few apple trees, so have apples in abundance this time of year, so I took a couple of apples, peeled & sliced them into a small single serving pyrex type of bowl, sprinkled some brown sugar splenda on them, and popped them in the microwave for about 3 minutes, checked them, then cooked them for about another minute and a half, til they felt tender to the fork---then I took the crunchies, broke them up in the bag, and sprinkled the bag over the top and zapped for a final 45 seconds, let it cool....topped DH's 1/2 with cool whip and ate mine as it was---give a nice crunch...apples were sweet. It was easy.....it ended up being one of those things I really wanted to eat more of than I was able. DH took care of it for me!!!

The next time I used the Special K vanilla bites, cuz thats all I had on hand----and someone else suggested the weight control oatmeal packets make good crisp toppings for baking fruit like this. Going to try that one!

Something like that has recently come out here, and I loved them, lol!

They're a bit high in fat and sugar as compared to ordinary breakfast Cereal though, so I've only had them once or twice.

Hi Jacqui, do you remember what they are called??

(If they are higher in fat then I guess I shouldn't be asking!!)

The cinnamon quaker oat bites remind me of french toast, the Peanut Butter remind me of coconut (huh??), and the chocolate (my least fav) taste like coacoa puffs. They're all good, but the cinnamon and peanut butter are a major treat for me. AND it has 3 or 4g of Fiber in that little pouch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
