My Dietician gave me a sample of these & I went ahead & ordered them. I like the idea of everything I need in one tablet & the price is right. I paid around $15.00 for two 30 day supplies.

That’s about the same price as Flintstones chewables (definitely the same price as the store-brand version), you still need to take calcium citrate, and that’s way too much B12 (my post-surgery program recommends 1000 mcg a week).

Do Flintstone chewable’s have everything you need? I take these for Calcium there $1.98 at Walmart.

Yes, two Flintstones have everything I need except for the calcium citrate and the B12, which is a sublingual tablet I take once a week. You need Calcium citrate such as this, https://www.bariatricadvantage.com/item/calcium_citrate_chewable_500mg/, not calcium carbonate. I shudder to think what’s happening to you’re stomach when you’re taking 3 Tums a day you don’t need.

Weird I showed those to my Dietician and he said those were fine. He also gave me the sample of the bariatric Vitamins and said they had everything I need except Calcium. Is there such a thing as too much B12 & if so what would it do?

After the sleeve, carbonate doesn't absorb as easily as citrate. Some controversy on B12 dosage - B Vitamins are Water soluble, so not as likely to get toxic levels, but some do have issues w high doses, do your own research. Also some healthcare professionals are very biased about Vitamin brands and efficacy altogether on vitamins.

When I had my RNY they started me on the B12 sublingual once a day. My blood-work came back and I was to high on the B12. So they had me go to 1 time a week. I started taking hair SKIN AND NAILS every day, again to high. Now I am taking it 2 times a week. Everything came back GREAT!! Now I didn't think men needed the extra Iron. I am 61YO and thru the change so because I don't have my monthly any more I don't need the extra iron. Sorry if I offended anyone. Because that is never what I want to do. have a great day

Generally you don't want to take an Iron containing Vitamin and Calcium at the same time. Iron can prevent you from getting the full benefit of your calcium pills. You usually want to take them 1-2 hours apart. To be honest most people probably won't have an issue as long as they are getting more than enough calcium in their daily diet, but if you’re on the low end for calcium (i.e. not getting much from food sources) then it’ something to keep in mind.

Make sure you are OK with the size and qty needed for the Calcium. I have no problem with pills, but the huge pill form and qty of the pills was a huge turnoff for me. I lasted about 2 days, then said heck no, can't do this. I ended up with a liquid calcium instead.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
