joeie 2 Posted January 13, 2018 I am 16 days post op for gastric sleeve and I have started eating soft foods- pickles, pears, tilapia, etc. my doctor said I’m okay to eat soft foods and work my way up from there slowly. I haven’t had any trouble whatsoever. But I’m worried this is going to slow my weigh loss. I’m down 27 pounds and am just worried that if I stop the liquid diet I won’t lose weight as much. I feel like if I keep eating soft food I’m going to start gaining weight or I’m going to stop losing weight. That might be a mental thing but I’m just worried. I will cry if I stop losing weight! Lol Is there anyone else out there eating soft food at two weeks?!
Flabtofab122717 26 Posted January 13, 2018 My dr. Required 2 week liquid diet post-op, followed by 4 weeks of puréed foods, and then at 6 weeks I can start to introduce regular food again . I was sleeved on 12/27, so I just started the puréed phase. I’ve had some of the same feelings, even in this stage. But it’s all in our heads. At least for me I know it is. It’s natural, but that’s the part we really have to work on. The surgery is just a tool; if we don’t take time in this first year to address all the other issues besides our stomachs that led us to obesity, eventually we will be right back where we started. I’ve started a journal. It helps me when I’m in my head to much to get it out and surprisingly, it helps me come up with some of my own solutions. You will be fine and you will lose weight. Good luck to you!
abefroman329 704 Posted January 14, 2018 The weight loss has slowed for me, but not stopped. I just added ground beef, turkey, and chicken to my diet and that is keeping me full, which is good. It’s possible that consuming a couple hundred more calories per day will speed up the weight loss.
Lynn1/3 18 Posted January 14, 2018 I was told Protein first then veggies. If you can, skip carbs. I will be 2 weeks post op next week and am looking forward to one soft protein meal a day for 2 weeks. High protein i.e. eggs, soft cheese, turkey, chicken, tuna fish and so on 1 joeie reacted to this
