If anything i was eating less the past couple days - due to me feeling like crap- I feel like im fricken defying physics right now.... almost 9 lbs in two days! Ive been counting calories too and at best ive had like 1200 cal. Any input?:D:(:(:(

Hi lauren0728,

You are in what is called bandster hell. That time when you are post op and pre fill and you have no restriction. It is just like not being banded. Hang in there. It is really important to let your body heal right now. It will help you in the long run. Your are absolutly valid in what you feel. Just don't let it get you down or keep you down rather.

I do have some suggestions.

~ Up your Protein. It helps you heal, it satisifies longer, it takes longer to burn protien calories.

~If you think you are hungry, try to drink Water (tea, Vitamin Water, etc.). We often confuse thirst for hunger. Drink and if you are still hungry in 15-30 minutes, eat some Protein.< /p>

~ Walk, it does a body good. I have found that exercise is a great stress reducer and a good substitute for obsessing about food.

~Keep SF gum with you and pop a piece in your mouth. It can sometimes satisfy those cravings.

~This is probably most important...put your scale away. It is bothering you what you see on the scale and sounds like you are stepping on it daily maybe even more than once a day. My weight fluxuates as much as 10 lbs in a day. If the scale is getting to you, remove the cause of the issue by removing the scale. One bandster out here had her DH hide the scale from her for a while.

Remember the band experience is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time and you are in one of the more challenging times for a bandster. Be gentle with yourself. You have not waisted time or money. It is worth it and you will do great! Let your self heal in body and spirit.

Keep us updated.

Good luck,

MMT

Hello.

I was banded the day after you so, we are at the same point, pre-fill still healing and in a new-to-banding limbo.

Please keep in mind that female body weight can fluctuate upto 4 ponds per day--per my MD (Fluid shifts, hormones, bowel movements, hydration status, etc.). My endocrinologist said that weighing yourself more than 1x per week is counter-productive. So, HIDE the scale. Weigh yourself 1x per week, preferably at the same time of day each week in similar or the same clothes. This will eliminate some of the factors that interfere with true weight.

Don't stress! This is the start of a new journey, give yourself time.

First of all, I'd KILL to be 168!

When I was where you are now (and it sucks) I just kept remembering what people say on this board which is the time between surgery and fill is for HEALING NOT LOSING. If you lose, great. If not, don't beat yourself up!

Have you scheduled your first fill yet? I would do that so you have a date and goal you're working toward. You should have your first fill about 8 wks post op.

Look at the bright side; you can still have Thanksgiving dinner without being too tight with a fill. Am I grasping at straws to help? Sorry.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
